Firstly, the phrase is often use to dismiss bad behaviour by boys and men. No bad behaviour should be shrugged off like they don’t matter. Being male is not a valid justification for bad behaviour.
Secondly, some people are encouraging
men to be open with their emotions despite society teaching men they can’t do
so. Others respond with ‘Let boys with boys, don’t force them to be emotional’.
No-one’s forcing men to be emotional: letting someone know they can do
something doesn’t force them to actually do it. It merely gives them a
choice. How giving someone a choice forces them to do something is beyond me,
considering they’re opposite concepts.
Thirdly, when young boys wear
dresses/make-up, people say they shouldn’t do it because they should act like
boys. Surely, we should let people be people? Let them behave as they, the
individual, wishes. There’s no harm being done so how can it be a problem?
