The Procedures Committee of the UK House of Commons has decided that, if an MP wants to 'observe, initiate, speak or intervene in proceedings', they can't have their baby with them.
Babies don't prevent these activities (in most circumstances). Ruling to remove distracting babies would make complete sense. But ruling that quiet babies can be present but their carers can't do their job? What's the point in that?
Hence it's an excuse, not an explanation. It's punishing those caring for babies not because what babies do but because that babies exist.
It's discrimination towards parents, pure and simple.
