Why the Ukraine War is no reason for the PM not to quit

To use the Ukraine war as a justification to remain in power is, simply put, ridiculous.

The Ukraine war is a fight against the abuse of power. Boris abused his power and position as PM. Yet Boris says he should stay as PM (despite abusing his power) in order to fight the abuse of power that Ukraine's receiving? Hypocrit.

Ukraine wouldn't lose out if the UK had a leadership contest. A major factor in selecting the new UK PM would be their position towards helping Ukraine. It's also important to remember that aid to Ukraine would continue during a leadership challenge.

Also, no PM wants to be outdone by their predecessor. So support for Ukraine could potentially increase if we get a new PM.

Plus the response of the UK government will be based primarily on the facts and figures provided by the civil service. Made up of the same civil servants before and after the PM leaves office. The facts, people and advice remain even if the PM doesn't.

And let's face it: Boris alone won't win the war.

As a sidenote, the Conservatives are more likely to lose the next election if they keep Boris as their leader. So anyone who wants the Conservatives gone should want Boris to remain as PM.

The Ukraine war might not be a reason for Boris to stay as PM. His continual leadership guaranteeing Conservatives losing power at the next election might be.
